Microsoft already announced the launching of the latest version of the Windows Mobile, the Windows Mobile 6.5. But although manufacturers of the 6.1 version will be updating to the new operating system, the Windows Mobile versions 5.0 and 6.0 will not receive the operating system upgrade.

To date, HTC, Samsung and Pharos have already signed on to upgrade their devices. HTC will update the Dash 3G, Ozone, Snap, and Touch Pro2. Samung’s Jack, Epix, and Omnia Pro will receive v6.5. Laslyt, the Pharos Traveler 137 is set to be upgraded.

As stated by YouTube Product Marketing, David Stewart, YouTube now provides access to mobile video application for Microsoft Windows Mobile and Nokia S60-powered cell phones. The application is currently 90% faster in start-up, searching, and loading video.

As mentioned above, the YouTube application is accessible to all Windows Mobile Devices and Nokia S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2. For a full list of S60 cell phones, just login to m.youtube.com.

While the Mobile World Congress was ongoing in Barcelona, Spain, MocoNews reported during the Microsoft’s press conference that HTC ships 80% of Windows Mobile-powered handsets worldwide. In fact, Mr. Andy Lees, Senior Vice President of Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business, disclosed that the company has sold 50 million Windows Mobile handsets around the globe.

But although HTC is only one of the 50 manufacturers that licenses the Windows Mobile operating system, the company still accounts for a majority of Microsoft’s mobile OS sales.

Recently, a certain virus attacking Google’s Android and Apple’s iPhone has been publicized for mass awareness. Now, the next target is reported to be Windows-Mobile-powered phones. The culprit –a Windows CE/Mobile polymorphic “companion” virus. Well, that’s according to a web article posted by McAfee Avert Labs last Thursday. McAfee is working hard to combat the virus though while it is still in a low threat level.

Meanwhile, researchers in the Georgia Tech Information Security Center (GTISC) made a forecast for 2009 that mobile threats will rank as number one in terms of mobile phone risks with hand-held phones being the most susceptible to virus attacks.

Verizon introduces yet another Samsung smartphone named Samsung SCH-i770 Saga. The latest gadget fro Samsung is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes with a complete qwerty keyboard. It boasts of a large 2.6 touchscreen display for a hassle-free phone navigation.

The Samsung Saga is supported by a dual-band CDMA (800/1900MHz) and a quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz). A WiFi is also loaded in the phone to provide high-speed data transfers. Samsung SCH-i770 Saga is fabricated with a 2 megapixel camera that makes up for a perfect night shots and many other image enhancements, and a microSD card slot is provided to enable users to store all those perfect moments.
