The Wall Street Journal publicized that Google is offering the Google-branded Nexus One Android-powered smartphone at a markdown. Rumors have been flowing about a Google-branded Android gadget since the weekend that were seen in photographs as an HTC touchscreen handset that lacks a keyboard. The handset was given to Google employees to test, as the company announced in an official blog post.

Google Android 1.6’s (Donut) SDK has just been announced and made available for developers. However, Android handsets that runs on Donut is already competent enough to display in various resolutions and screen sizes. The OS will also enable devices to run CDMA bands.

The QuickSearch function will enable Android-powered handset users to leap through contacts, apps, and the Internet in one field. There will be Google I/O, a text-to-speech API with the ability to speak out translated languages. Meanwhile, even Google Marketplace itself got enhanced.

Verizon Wireless has publicized the existence of Motorola VU204.

Motorola’s latest handset is a clamshell phone that carries a VGA-resolution camera and is loaded with up to 64MB memory card slot for photo, video, and music storage. The new mobile phone’s rounded frame provides ease and confidence for the users when it comes to pocket slipping.

The Motorola VU204 has a fixed A-GPS support to access Verizon’s VZ Navigator service. A Bluetooth is also on board for hassle-free wireless headsets. What’s more, this new handset also offers it users over 2 weeks of standby time with the help of its huge battery.

Virgin Mobile USA has finally laid down the full payment for Helio.

After this acquisition wherein Virgin Mobile paid a total of 13 million in common shares amounting to US$ 38M, its stock is now for trade at US$ 2.72. Moreover, both the telecom and Virgin Group will pool a total sum of US$25M to invest into Virgin Mobile USA for preferred stock. As a result of this agreement, SK Telecom will be given two seats on Virgin’s list of board of directors.
