Austria and Switzerland welcomes Nokia’s music store

The Nokia Music Store was unveiled in Austria and Switzerland just recently with a web address of http://music.nokia.at and http://music.nokia.ch respectively. The digital music store contains over 5,000,000 music tracks that are directly downloadable to Nokia mobile phones.

Michael Lachsteiner, Nokia’s Music Service manager in Austria said, “With the launch of the Nokia Music Store, Nokia aims to make available to all Austrian and Swiss users of all ages, the music that they want at any moment they want, with all the facilities that mobility permits nowadays” while Hannes Eder, Managing Director Universal Music Austria, said, “The Nokia Music Store is a user-friendly innovation of the market leader. From this partnership the music industry expects a boost in the download segment - in and outside of Austria and Switzerland…”

CEATEC, Japan. Toshiba demonstrates its most modern invention with a direct methanol fuel cell (INFO) (DMFC) that is tiny enough to fit into a cell phone. DMFC is a latest form of battery that makes use of an effect involving methanol, water, and air to create electricity.

The DMCF could be simple on mechanical details but Toshiba stated that a 50mL refill cartridge could be able to recharge the phone 15 times. The model being demonstrated on the exhibit was reported to endure up to 6 hours of talk time. Toshiba was not able to provide definite dates for the release of this technology but the company mentioned that they’re pushing for a release in 2009.

Two idle months after its April announcement, Toshiba Information Systems has finally unveiled the Toshiba Portege G810 at the 2008 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The new smartphone is regarded as a fitting device for users that require both full functionality and mobility. Running on a Windows Mobile 6.1 platform, access to various Microsoft Office Mobile applications is readily provided, while e-mail exchanges are facilitated with the handset’s push e-mail feature.

Adding another gem of a handset to the glamorous line up of luxury phones, Toshiba have finally introduced the Cosmic Shiner, a FanFun 815T model studded with diamonds.This limited edition model, with only 1,000 available, is to be offered for $4,000 via an interesting invitation only scheme. In addition to the custom design features by Kansai Yamamoto discriminating buyers will also be entitled to a new “Prestige Gold” membership service.

Available for order by credit card only, with estimated delivery of 30-days for the personalized handmade lacquer box, eager buyers will apparently also have to pick-up the April issue of Seven Hills magazine to get their required unique ID code to initiate the purchase process. The Kyoto concierge membership service - first year trial is included - will offer various agency arrangements such as hotel and restaurant bookings along with further special privileges to be detailed in early April.

Toshiba announced at the Mobile World Congress 2008 its new Portégé G810. The Windows Mobile smartphone has a new and enhanced user interface and with the stylish touch screen it’s both simple and easy to use. The G810 will be available across Europe in Q2 2008.

The Portégé G810 is the ideal mobile-working device. With Windows Mobile the user has access to the Microsoft Office Mobile applications they need to carry on working whilst out and about, and with push e-mail they can read and respond to e-mails immediately.
