
Palm has posted results on the Pre and the Pixi, showing decrease by 14.87%
Palm chairman and chief executive, Jon Rubinstein, “Our recent underperformance has been very disappointing, but the potential for Palm remains strong…The work we’re doing to improve sales is having an impact, we’re making great progress on future products, and we’re looking forward to upcoming launches with new carrier partners,”
The CEO also said that if there’s a reasonable proposal the board has to consider it. But according to him, he’s been focusing on building a great company with a great mobile latform and great products for 3 years in running.

Palm has just announced that its webOS plug-in development kit (PDK) is now available to the open The PDK works with Palm’s webOS software development kit (SDK) and allows developers to use C and C++ programming languages with web technologies. The PDK will formulate it to be hassle-free for developers that have written 3D games for other platforms to harbor them above the webOS. The PDK is available today from developer.palm.com.

Palm has announced the brought Sprint’s Palm Pixi and Palm Pre up to date through the webOS 1.4. To date, the devices now have the ability to edit video, improved usability in the major applications, and the use of the LED in the gesture area as a new message notification light. The enhancements to apps include new dialing functionality from the Calendar, sorting in the Email app, and the ability to easily SMS a contact from the Phone app or the Call Log. Palm today anticipates third quarter revenues to fall between $285 million and $310 million on generally accepted accounting bases (GAAP) and between $300 million to $320 million on a non-GAAP basis. Palm will publicize its official third quarter earnings on March 18th 2010 and will offer more details at that time. Jon Rubinstein, Palm’s chairman and CEO, said that the consumers’ acceptance of Palm products is “taking longer than the company has anticipated,” but that the company is running closely with its carrier partners to facilitate drive brand consciousness and boost sales.

Verizon Wireless is now offering the Palm Pre Plus at $149.99 with a 2-year contract and a $100 mail-in-rebate, and the Pixi Plus at $99.99, also with a contract and rebate. Unlimited data for the phones will cost $29.99, but an additional $40 per month is being charged using the 3G Hotspot feature that is significant in 3G and Wi-Fi connection. Verizon Wireless is also offers the promo “Buy one Palm Pre Plus or Palm Pixi Plus, Get onea Palm Pixi Plus” that comes free after a mail-in-rebate. The offer runs until February 14.
