
NTT DOCOMO, INC. will launch the i-mode™ mobile Internet service on the FOMA™ 3G network on July 21. The application would enable the users to remit up to 20,000 yen per transfer by inputting the payee’s mobile phone number. The payee then receives a mail notification through their DOCOMO mobile phone and will be given the choice of depositing the money in a domestic bank account or having the amount credited to their monthly DOCOMO phone bill. The payee can receive remittances totaling up to 200,000 yen per month.
The Kanto Local Finance Bureau approved DOCOMO’s project to launch and operate the service as a bank agent on behalf of Mizuho Bank, Ltd. last June 30.

Japan’s NTT DoCoMo and South Korea’s KTF has been reported of planning to team up with Google and construct a smartphone that will basically make use of the Google Android. According to Agence France Presse, DoCoMo disclosed that as they and KTF are allied with Google they will be considering a commercial mobile device together.
By utilizing Google Android, DoCoMo is hoping to replace the #3 Japanese cell phone carrier which is Softbank. However, neither DoCoMo nor KTF has already decided upon a hardware development partner for the new device.

LG Electronics presented its global hit model Shine in Japan market through NTT DoCoMo, which comes in gold color.
Supporting 7.2Mbps HSDPA network, 2M camera and microSD card, the Gold Shine features 1-Seg dedicated to Japanese. It also offers 140 minutes of continuous calling time and 330 hours of standby time.

LG Electronics launched ‘Wine Phone(model: FOMA L705i)’ in Japan market, which enhanced voice calling and SMS sending and receiving functionality targeting for 30~40 year old consumers.
