
LG said that it does not feel like fabricating its own proprietary smartphone OS. Scott Ahn, Vice President of LG’s Mobile Business unit, established that LG’s plan for the next two to three years does not incorporate the development of a proprietary mobile OS. LG will stay devoted to creating smartphones that run on Windows Phone 7 Series and Android. The company also aims to focus on the device, with content and extra services to battle better.

AT&T has announced the LG Arena. The device comes with Mobile TV and measures 105.9mm x 55.3mm x 11.95mm (4.2in x 2.2in x .5in). It carries a 3-inch WVGA display, a Schneider-Kreuznach 5 megapixel camera, and support AT&T’s 7.2 HSPA 3G network. It also has LG’s unique 3D S-Class user interface, which makes it easy to access your multimedia content. But to benefit from the phone’s mobile TV application, you’ll need to subscribe for AT&T’s Mobile TV plan which costs an additional $9.99 per month.
The Arena will retail for $199.99 with a 2-year contract beginning on February 26th.

LG’s slimmest 3.2-inch touchscreen-equipped phone has been by LG recently. The gadget is labeled as the GD880 Mini. It has no SIM cards but has a gorgeous user interface. According to LG, the Mini has dedicated Facebook and Twitter clients and supports other social networking data feeds as well. The new browser it uses is based on the same Webkit libraries used in the iPhone and Android browsers. Other features of the phone are push email support and, of course, its 5 megapixel camera.

LG launched the GS500 Cookie Plus, a 3G touch screen feature phone that sports a user interface that has a focus around social network connectivity. A Facebook widget is on the home screen, as well as Twitter and Flickr. The Cookie Plus offers a unique “Editable Screenshot” MMS feature that lets you take screenshots of websites to edit and mail to friends. For images, the Cookie Plus comes equipped with a 3 megapixel camera. The Cookie Plus will be available initially in France and Italy in March.

LG has launched the LG Mini (GD880), the smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch touch screen phone on the market. The mobile phone features a button-less face, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, an FM radio, and a 5 megapixel camera. It also comes with Social Network Connect, an application that LG hopes will make it easy to stay in touch with friends on Facebook and Twitter. LG says the Mini will be available in Europe this March.
