LG formally announced its second Android powered smartphone labeled as the GT540. The handset gives emphasis on social networking and that it is a best device for smartphone buyers. The LG GT540 includes a 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus, Android 2.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an attractive industrial design that features chrome-colored accents and rounded edges. LG plans to launch the phone worldwide in April 2010. However, pricing has not yet been disclosed.

LG Rumor Touch was finally released by Sprint. The device features a 3-inch touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It also includes a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of additional storage, and a 2-megapixel camera on its back. The user interface on the Rumor Touch has a scrollable main menu that is only a touch away. It has a 5-row QWERTY keyboard that offers a great layout. The LG Rumor Touch is expected to be available in the first quarter of this year, although Sprint has not yet released pricing details.

LG unveiled the LG GW990, a handset that runs on Intel’s Moblin 2.1. The smartphone features a 4.8-inch touchscreen display that has a 1024 x 480 pixel resolution. It supports HSPA(INFO) networks and it will add support for Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks in the future. In the United States, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless have announced intentions to launch LTE networks during the next few years. LG plans to sell the device in the second half of 2010. The company works closely hand in hand with Intel on the LG GW990.

LG Electronics announced that it would present three mobile phones that carry the North American Mobile Digital TV Standard at this year’s Consumer Electronics. North America’s ATSC-M/H digital television standard will permit those with able phones to access free TV over the airwaves without having to shell out for subscription services, like those offered by AT&T and Verizon Wireless using Qualcomm’s FLO TV technology. To date, five stations in Washington D.C. are disseminating Mobile DTV substance, and the Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) has said that 70 other stations have declared plans to roll-out Mobile DTV broadcasts by the end of 2010.

LG eXpo is now available from AT&T. The device is a Windows Mobile-powered smartphone that features an optional LG Mobile Projector accessory, which lets users project the phone’s display as far as 8 feet away. The handset also carries a slide-out full-QWERTY keyboard and a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 5.0 megapixel camera, aGPS and WiFi functionality, and more. It is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5, Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system.

The LG GW820 eXpo is available for $199.99 with a two-year customer agreement and after a mail-in rebate. The optional LG Mobile Projector is not yet available for sale.
