After announcing a 3G spectrum auction, the Indian government said that it has issue an official notice inviting applications last February 25, 2010. Qualified bidders will be announced on 30 March and mock auctions will be held 5-6 April ahead of the main event three days later. The auctions will cover 20 of India’s 22 telecoms zones. A separate auction for the WiMAX-capable Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum would start two days after the close of the 3G auction. The 3G auctions in India have been delayed at least three times since a date was first set in January 2009 over issues such as the reserve start price, the number of slots to be sold and the amount of bandwidth available.
