
Nokia announced that the latest edition of Ovi Maps is free for all users, including the walking and driving directions software which is a pay-for service that required a subscription. The direction software provides pedestrian and turn-by-turn voice-guided automobile directions in 74 countries and 46 languages. Maps are available for more than 180 countries. It’s available for 10 Nokia phones including the N97 mini, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, and the E72. According to Nokia, the software can be downloaded from nokia.com/maps, and will come preloaded on all GPS capable smartphones in beginning in March 2010.
