LG Electronics announced that it would present three mobile phones that carry the North American Mobile Digital TV Standard at this year’s Consumer Electronics. North America’s ATSC-M/H digital television standard will permit those with able phones to access free TV over the airwaves without having to shell out for subscription services, like those offered by AT&T and Verizon Wireless using Qualcomm’s FLO TV technology. To date, five stations in Washington D.C. are disseminating Mobile DTV substance, and the Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) has said that 70 other stations have declared plans to roll-out Mobile DTV broadcasts by the end of 2010.
