The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) has approved the Mobile DTV mobile broadcast standard that aims to bring digital programming to consumers on mobile devices in the U.S.

The Open Mobile Video Coalition, a consortium of 800 broadcast stations, says it will begin rolling out digital programming for the Mobile DTV standard. OMVC will showcase the technology today to government officials in Washington, D.C., as it announced it would do in April.
