To date, Apple’s App Store has been a home to million of mobile games both from big and small developers since its launching. Thanks to the million of consumer downloads for its success. As a matter of fact, Apple has sold more than 40 million iPhones and iPod Touches, with more than 1.5 billion apps downloaded wherein the average price paid for a game download is $1.79.
Meanwhile, there has been a big difference between the big and small developers. For example, Glu Mobile spends $200,000 to $300,000 to develop a game, far more than what a small publisher might invest, said Greg Ballard, the company’s departing CEO, while smaller publishers will continue to have hits, but few will be able to turn them into a viable business.
