Samsung launches the E1107 Crest Solar, a solar-powered mobile phone that is truly first of its kind. The E1107 Crest Solar is loaded with a dual-band (900/1800MHz) support and a large solar cell on its back cover. This can basically charge the device’s 800mAh battery using only the energy from the sun. Samsung explains that turned off, the solar energy that was saved by the phone can provide another 5 to 10 minutes of talk time.
The Samsung Crest Solar also boasts of a built-in FM radio, MP3 ringers, and a flashlight/torch function. Other features include a 1.52-inch, 128 x 128 pixel CSTN display, 40 initially-downloaded polyphonic ringtones, and a body that measures 4.1in x 1.7in x .6in. It will be available in India, Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and Latin America starting this June 2009.
