Google has laid down its plan of releasing up to 20 Android-powered smartphones before the end of year 2009. Andy Rubin, senior director for mobile platforms at Google, said that the handsets would be fabricated 8 to 9 various manufacturers. To date, there are only two Android-based phones available, the HTC-manufactured ‘Dream’ offered by T-Mobile across many of its markets, and the HTC ‘Magic’ in Europe.
Meanwhile, Google emphasized that Android is an ‘open’ platform. In fact, it has drew out 3 models of how the Android app store will work for outside developers.
