Unfortunate news from Sony Ericsson — The Company has just posted its financial statements for the first quarter of 2009, which resulted to a net loss of $387 million. This, according to Sony Ericsson, might result to another 2,000 lay offs in order to cut down the costs. Previously, 2,000 employees were already laid off in an effort to reduce costs by US$391 million.

According to an analysis, the company’s decreased number of units sold caused the loss. Sony Ericsson’s mobile phone shipments dropped by 35% –14.5 million in the first quarter compared to 22.3 million in the same quarter last year.
