Palm announced its invitation to developers for creating applications for its Palm Pre touchscreen handheld that is supposed to battle with Apple’s iPhone and Research in Motion’s BlackBerry devices. Michael Abbott, Palm senior vice president of application software and services, said “Developers are an incredibly important part of the webOS ecosystem…We’re eager to get the SDK into their hands.”
A California-based company said its Palm App Catalog would launch when Pre devices hit store shelves later this quarter — a trend started by Apple’s App Store for iPhones.
