Rumor has it that Dell is secretely working on smartphones that would work on Android operating system. Also, according to The Wall Street Journal, these smartphones would have full QWERTY keyboards on their slide-out. As for the operating system, Dell is said to be testing both Microsoft’s Windows Mobile OS as well as Google’s Android platform. However, one of the models will most probably carry a touchscreen.

To date, one of the top executives of Motorola’s cell phone unit, Ron Garriques, is now the head of Dell’s consumer division. But even before ending his contract, Garriques’ agreed with Motorola that he will not set foot on cell phone competition with his former company.
