Among the Palm’s Pre, Google’s Android-powered G1, and the rest, the iPhone emerged as the most deserving for the multi-touch technology patent. Obviously, this is to be credited to Apple.

The iPhone is said to detect “one or more finger contacts” and apply “one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command for the device.” Perhaps, this is what the U.S. Patent Office has considered in awarding the patent entitled “Touch screen device, method, and graphical user interface for determining commands by applying heuristics” to Apple last January 20, 2009 on a very thin line among the rest.

The patent application was originally submitted by Apple to the U.S. Patent Office last April 11, 2008.
