So that the network operators can provide contents to their customers by validating the certificate that is available on the SIM card, SanDisk, together with LG Electronics, announced a new technology. This technology would enable the SIM cards to be used as an authentication server to ensure that the content is meant to be distributed to specific customers.

Information is downloadable to a microSD or M2 card wherein it can be approved by the authentication process. The technology, based on TCP/IP and OMA Smart Card Web Server services gives exclusivity to data downloaded from a carrier.
