AT&T is being reported to have a possible migration from 850Mhz band to 1900 Mhz band. As a result, subscribers in the Midwest and the East and West Coasts might be highly affected with the 3G coverage and stability.

However, according to AT&T, the company’s main objective for this major change is to enhance its 3G network. In fact, Mark Siegel, AT&T’s executive director of analyst relations, elaborated that the rumors that AT&T was forcing customers to upgrade to 3G handsets and that AT&T representatives were advising customers to move away from GSM equipment to 3G equipment were definitely not true.
