In addition to my December 26 post, let me share with you something that I have gathered on the net. This tackles about another advantage of recycling old mobile phones.

Instead of just throwing away their old phones, some people in the United Kingdom are mandated by the European Union to collect and recycle approximately 4 kilograms of electronic garbage. This, in turn, resulted to less chemical waste brought about by the cell phone batteries and other parts.

Fonebank, being the top collector of recycled phones, were able to recycle around 10,000 phones last November. The organization brought these gadgets to Africa and Asia to share to the impoverished people who can not afford to buy their own mobile phones. Through this, Fonebank were able to give joy to the financially challenged, most specially to the kids who don’t even know how to talk over their own second-hand-phone.
