Last June 2008, rumors of Nokia planning to buy Symbian started to buzz around. And, to level up with major competitors such as Android and Windows Mobile, Nokia has just completed the acquisition of Symbian Limited for an approximate total of $410 million.
Right after the acquisition, Nokia went straight to announcing its latest offer for mobile phone manufacturers. For only $1,500 they can distribute Symbian operating system without having to pay royalty fees to Nokia. This offer, of course, has been taken by leading manufacturers including AT&T, LG Electronics, Motorola, NTT DOCOMO, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.
