Different telecom officials in Europe have gathered together to agree on a certain thing –to lessen the “bill shock” brought about by huge rate on telecommunications. The current telecommunication rates in Europe amounts to EUR1.00 per megabyte on web browsing, EUR2.05 per megabyte for data downloads, and EUR0.11 for SMS. And, to resolve the growing ‘bill’ problem, the officials concluded that a EUR50 ceiling should be given as an option for the users for them to be able to avoid the unnecessary fees.
Athough the Council, the Commission, and the Parliament gave their assurance on pushing the proposal through, they stated that these cellphone rates should be regulated by the state itself.
