UIQ Technology’s performance has lately been sailing roughly. As a matter of fact, its 270 staff members was reported to already receive a dismissal notice last November 6, 2008 after holding a board meeting.

UIQ Technology is the brain behind the Symbian-powered smartphones, and, Motorola and Sony Ericsson each own half of the company’s stocks. However, Motorola, since it also has its own fair share of economic trouble nowadays, is not so bold in entering into a commitment of providing financial support for UIQ. Meanwhile, Sony Ericsson disclosed that it will continue its monthly financial support for the company.
