Motorola has given up Symbian OS and UIQ user interface for Android and Windows Mobile. Furthermore, Sanjay Jha, Motorola’s Mobile Devices CEO, confirmed that it would no longer build any more phones that work on its proprietary Linux Java platform.

Starting the last quarter of 2009, Windows Mobile and Android will officially power all Motorola phones. This goes for both consumer and enterprise devices. Through this step, the company is expecting to return to profitability first, considering the current economic climate.
