
Two major CDMA carriers from Canada namely Bell Canada and Telus have publicized their decisions to expand a UMTS/HSPA 3G network. This major step will be done as groundwork for an ultimate shift to LTE for 4G. Meanwhile, the Top 3 Canadian carrier named Rogers Wireless is already operating on its 3G UMTS/HSPA system in preparation for LTE.
Bell Canada and Telus are anticipating the turn over of their UMTS/HSPA network in 2010. Nevertheless, the two companies have not yet specified the duration of support for the current CDMA-based gadgets.
Reports state that Nokia Siemens Networks and Huawei will be providing the networking paraphernalia for the latest HSPA system.
