Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint, has recently confirmed that the rumors involving external interest in Sprint’s iDEN network is true. To backtrack, iDEN network was utilized by Nextel before the company’s merging with Sprint only some years ago. The network is still used by some of Sprint’s clients, primarily for its advanced PTT (Push-to-Talk) competence.
Mr. Dan Hesse did not give a detail on who was fascinated in acquiring the network. However, he said that the existing financial condition would make it complicated for any buyers to lift the required investment. To make the story short, it’s apparent that selling iDEN is not Sprint’s preference for it is still using the network.
