Palm has restructured the Treo 700wx to Windows Mobile 6. However, it warns the users that the Treo 700wx update files can only be downloaded once per device. This is due to a licensing contract with Microsoft.

Conversely, it is not understandable why the gadget was not updated to Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, which offers free upgrade to all Windows Mobile 6.0 devices. Furthermore, it is also unclear if the Sprint version of Treo 700wx will also be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.

Meanwhile, The Treo 700wx is Palm’s most recent Windows Mobile handset on Verizon while the Treo 800w is now available on Sprint, setting an economic significance in Palm.
