Motorola shocked Wall Street by posting tiny revenue last week and by maintaining its spot as the third major manufacturer of mobile phones in the world.
Meanwhile, Greg Brown, Motorola’s present CEO, has been re-positioned as the sole CEO of Motorola’s Broadband Mobility Solutions unit, which is in charge of the non-handset section of the company. And so as of this day, Motorola announced that it has employed Qualcomm’s COO, Dr. Sanjay Jha, to assume the position of being the CEO of Motorola and the sole CEO of Motorola’s mobile phone unit.
As a respected member of the telecom industry, the news of Sanjay Jha’s new job at Motorola has propelled the company’s shares up to 9 percent today while Qualcomm’s dropped a crumb according to the news. Some industry analysts, however, are forecasting that Jha’s new position at Motorola could mean more business for Qualcomm in the future.
