Mobile phone users in Japan are growing more and more excited about Softbank Mobile’s launching in their shores of the iPhone 3G on July 11.

This excitement has been attributed to the Japanese consumers’ early appreciation of the iPhone 3G in terms of its versatile functionality and practical design. Results of a mid-June survey conducted by leading Japanese consumer advisory portal Kakaku.com, where 90% of the respondents are male, revealed an overall positive response (50.9%) to the iPhone 3G’s arrival.

Subscribers from both Softbank Mobile and other carriers were made part of the survey, and it is worth noting that 45.8% of consumers tied up to those other carriers have expressed both consideration and intent to buy the iPhone 3G when it arrives. Those who plan to cancel their existing subscription in favor of Softbank comprised 63.5%, while 36.5% are setting their eyes on adding the iPhone 3G to their existing handsets.

From these figures, and those manifested by the pie-chart above, the iPhone 3G’s impact to global mobile phone users has apparently been tremendous, and it just keeps on getting intense as the launch date approaches. Do stick around with Feelphones as we keep a close watch on how things are going to turn out come July 11.
