S60-based smartphone users are in for a treat with the recent enhancement of the Google Reader Mobile as accessed on S60 handsets.

Prior to this enhancement, S60 mobile phone users could only view Google Reader Mobile as a bunch of text links over a simple white background. Google’s changes came as a result of a discovery some weeks ago that the iPhone-optimized version of the reader works equally well with the Webkit browser of the S60 Nokia smartphones. Google’s tweaks enabled S60 handsets to access the Google Reader Mobile graphically better, with more functionality like being able to browse feeds in different ways.

Google Reader is a web-based RSS reader, with its handset counterpart being the Google Mobile Reader.
