Mobile phone models come and go, but when they’re made of superior quality materials and designed with elegantly timeless style, they last forever. Luxury mobile phone maker Vertu came out recently with the new Constellation collection, a range of premium handsets of sophistication and substance that serves as a reinforcement to the style and design quality of its brand.

This new range of mobile phones for those with a jetsetting lifestyle was designed by Vertu’s principal design man, Frank Nuovo. It draws inspiration from the classic Lockheed Constellation aircraft as evident in most of its features, like the rotor-blade shaped microphone receiver port and the different aviation-related themes of its S40 Symbian-based OS.

Compared to Nokia phones that have the same OS, the Constellation handsets have far superior graphics viewable through its scratch-resistant, 262K-color TFT sapphire crystal LCD. The stunning display is aptly complemented by a special bevel keypad system that comes laser-etched and with backlit illumination. Ease of use is further provided by a four-way scrolling navigation system which Vertu introduces in this Constellation suite.

The phone has quadband connection, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, and multi-language support which all enhance the user’s travelling experience. A pre-installed Worldmate software allows for real-time flight information, currency conversion and weather monitoring. Flight mode functionality also comes in handy.

Adding up all these technical features and premium refinements may not get us anywhere close to justifying the price tag of the Vertu Constellation, unless we squeeze in “luxury” into the equation. Prices for this collection range from $6,700 to $17, 900.
