Apple has officially released iPhone software version 1.1.2. The update makes various bug fixes, and is now available on iTunes for updating. The update had leaked onto Apple’s servers as a restore images late last week. It also brings the United States version of iPhone in-sync with the software version shipping in European iPhone units.
iPhone firmware 1.1.2 will, once again, disable third-party applications, and the jailbreak process. An update for Installer.app is currently being worked on for firmware 1.1.1, which upon installation, will allow third-party applications to work properly after updating to 1.1.2. However, it is important to note that users running 1.1.2 will have to downgrade to 1.1.1 before enabling third-party software again.
Apple has committed to enabling official support for third-party applications in the February 2008 update. A counterpart update to iPhone firmware 1.1.2 is now available for the iPod touch.
